It can be overwhelming to know where to start, so first have a think about what kind of vibe you are after, do you like the idea of being remote, or close to the water, high in the mountains, the North or South Island? I've pulled together a list of some top locations to elope in New Zealand to help you out. Need more advice? Drop me an email and let's chat!

Best places to Elope in NZ
Home to instagrammable elopement locations, the jaw dropping mountain ranges of Queenstown is something truly special. Hike to some amazing mountain spots, or have a lake side ceremony. Queenstown is known as the adventure capital of New Zealand and there's plenty to keep you occupied during your stay, after all this is where bungee jumping was invented, but if you are after something a little more laid back, there are some world class restaurants to enjoy and relaxing hot pools to soak in.
Another South Island gem, and if jaw dropping mountains are your thing, then you will love Mt Cook. Choose between a glacier side wedding, or hike up the mountain for some epic views.
If white sandy beaches and bush walks are your thing, then this is the place for you! With crystal clear oceans it's not unusual to see dolphins and whales from the shore. One of my favourite places in NZ, as here you get the best of both worlds - beautiful beaches and amazing bush walks. Some of my favourite Coromandel places for elopements are New Chums Beach, The Pinnacles, Opoutere, Orokawa Bay, and Lonely Bay.
Nothing beats a sunset on the West Coast of Auckland. The black volcanic sand, and the rugged coast line, make places like Bethells, Karekare, Muriwai, and Piha really breathtaking. Only a 45 drive from central Auckland, but the remote enough to feel like you are a million miles from the busy city. A popular area with surfers, the nearby towns have a relaxed vibe, and the extensive Waitakere Bush with the famous Hillary Trail, makes you want to stay a few days to explore the area after your elopement.
This laid back surfing town is situated on the West Coast. With its black volcanic sand and beautiful natural bush, it's a small vibrant town popular with surfers and artists.
Tongariro National Park
Home to three active volcanos, Mt Ruapehu, Mt Tongariro, and Mt Ngauruhoe (aka Mt Doom in the Lord of the Rings), this World Heritage site is based right in the middle of the North Island. With its diverse landscape, from volcanic peaks to native bush & waterfalls, the National Park is a natural wonder.
Choose from the vineyards and pristine beaches of Waiheke Island, or the wild remoteness of Great Barrier Island, or you can even hire your own private oasis at Slipper Island. If you love being surrounded by water, this is a great option.
AND SO MANY MORE!
This is just a starting point, there are so many more amazing places to elope in NZ such as the Abel Tasman, Lake Rotoiti, Bay of Islands, and Hawkes Bay to name a few. So if you have an idea for an elopement location, let's chat!
From unique Air BnB's to luxury escapes.
Book somewhere special for your elopement and make the accomodation part of your day. Airbnbs are fantastic for finding those unique, quirky options - from tree houses in the forest, to remote beach huts, to log cabins in the mountains.
Having an amazing place to stay makes all the difference as you get ready for your elopement, we can incorporate this in to your footage, and if you are having guests at your elopement, you could use this space to have a special celebration dinner post ceremony (just check with the rules for your particular hire).
If you are looking for more luxury than quirky, there are a range of gorgeous boutique villas that would ensure you felt like royalty. I have a range of places that I can recommend on all levels of budget, so get in touch if you would like some suggestions.
