If you are wondering how much photo or video coverage you will need, I’ve pulled together this guide to elopement photography timeline, so you have a starting point for your planning.
The best thing about having an intimate wedding or an elopement is that there’s no strict time line, & you can have your wedding whenever the hell you want to!
Some things to consider when doing your elopement/intimate wedding timeline
• Where are you getting married? If you are getting hitched on top of a mountain and need to hike there, then you don’t want to time it so you are making you way back down the mountain in the dark! A early morning or late afternoon wedding may be best suited to you.
• Sunset or ‘golden hour’ is a photographers dream time of the day to shoot. The light is amazing, and dreamy. Check the time of the sunset on your wedding date, and you can plan your ceremony for 1-2 hours prior this, so your creative shoot can take place during the sunset.
• Consider the location you are getting married and what the light might be doing. New Zealand’s sun can be pretty harsh, especially in summer, so if you are planning on getting hitched on a beach at mid-day with no shade it’s going to be crazy bright, so I would recommend having a late afternoon ceremony. However if you are getting married in the forest, native bush or at a waterfall, with lots of shade, then a early afternoon ceremony would work best for you to get as much light as possible in to your chosen spot.
